“On the eighth day of April in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, in this Parish Church of Our Lady of Conception, in the municipality of the town of Santa Cruz on the island of Flores, in the Diocese of Angra, I solemnly baptized a female individual whom I named Emilia, who was born in this parish at eight o'clock in the morning on the seventh day of this month, the legitimate daughter of Jose Maria Salvadore Junior, a native of this parish, a carpenter, and of Maria Jose Ventura, a native of the same parish, employed in the service of their home, received in the same parish and parishioners thereof, residents on Silvas Street of the same parish, paternal granddaughter of Jose Maria Salvadore and Margarida da Conceicao and maternal granddaughter of an unknown grandfather and Leibana de Jesus. Her godfather was Joao Maria Salvadore, a single carpenter, and her godmother was Maria Jose de Avellar, single, all of whom are known to me. And for the accounts, I drew up this record in duplicate, which, after being read and checked in front of the godparents with me, they did not sign because they did not know how to write. It was as above.
